The BDQT - Board of Dance Qualifications & Training is a Standards Organisation for the accreditation and recognition of teaching and performing qualifications of its member Awarding Organisations and Examination Boards in Dance, Movement and Musical Theatre throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe.


ACCREDITED EXAMINATIONS
The Board operates an independent accreditation system of the highest standards for Awarding Organisations & Examination Boards within the dance and movement industry to demonstrate to the general public and the industry alike their firm commitment to Quality Assurance, Health & Safety and Continued Professional Development (CPD) of teachers and examiners whilst offering a syllabus that contains structured artistic and technical examinations and medal tests that develop in a progressive graded system.

Strict criteria is required to become a BDQT accredited Awarding Organisation; on-going comparability studies ensure that standards are upheld across the board.

We also work closely with the "Graded Qualifications Alliance" - Gqal is fully accredited by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulator "OFQUAL" and offer validation of Awarding Organisations "Programmes of Study" (syllabus) leading to "Ofqual" accredited qualifications which are placed on the "Qualifications Credit Framework" (QCF) attracting UCAS points -validation is conducted by Gqal's panel of dance professionals and ex-inspectors from H.M. Inspectorate for Education.



FULL & PART TIME VOCATIONAL COLLEGES

The Board also accredits full and part-time time vocational Dance and Musical Theatre colleges(Accredited College Status) and recognised dancing schools (Recognised School Status)enabling the public to make an educated choice when deciding where to enrol.

Accredited colleges will have undergone rigorous inspection to ensure they are:

•financially stable
•offer a high-quality curriculum, 
•employing fully qualified staff, 
•maintaining health & safety policies 
•operating legally within premises suitable for the training offered.

The BDQT accreditation process places as much emphasis on quality of dance issues as quality assurance issues.

BDQT also offers an accreditation service to qualified teachers (Accredited Teacher Status) of any recognised association who can demonstrate to the board that they meet criteria set down by us in:

  • Professional Conduct and Good Practice

A BDQT accredited school will display it's "Recognised School Status" and/or “Accredited Teacher Status” certificate and logo./contentbox]


DIRECTORY OF QUALIFIED TEACHERS AND ADJUDICATORS

A directory of qualified dance teachers, examiners and adjudicators from member associations can be accessed at the "Teachers Directory". BDQT accredited teachers and schools will show the relevant 'accreditation mark' as a guarantee of quality.
